Keyboard shortcuts

The web UI has a few single-key shortcuts for common actions. They work when you’re not typing in a text field and no dialog or menu is open.

Key Action
C Create a new item for the current screen — a work entry on the dashboard, a report on the reports screen.
J Move the selection down in a list.
K Move the selection up in a list.
O Open the highlighted item.
X Check or uncheck the highlighted row, in lists with bulk selection.
S Star or unstar the open message, in Messages.
E Archive the open message, or move it back to the Inbox.
D Move the open message to Trash (or restore it) in Messages; on an agent’s sessions list, delete the checked sessions (asks first).

The list shortcuts (J / K / O) apply to the lists that support selection, such as the timeline, the reports list, your inbox, and an agent’s sessions list.

In Messages, S, E, and D act on the open message — star, archive, and move to Trash. Each one toggles, so in the Starred, Archive, or Trash folder the same key reverses it. Archiving or trashing advances the selection to the next message and opens it, so you can clear a run of messages from the keyboard; at the end of the folder the reading pane closes.

While a detail panel is open — a work entry on the timeline, or a session on an agent’s activity page — / move through the list live, updating the panel as you go.

On an agent’s sessions list, X builds a bulk selection of your own sessions. While sessions are checked, C opens the Log Work dialog prefilled from the selection (and links the created entry to those sessions), and D asks to delete them. Both stay inactive while the selection mixes projects or exceeds the per-entry limit, just like the corresponding buttons.
